Telegram Founder Recovers Passport From French Authorities, TON Token Surges by 20%

The price of TON has experienced a significant increase of over 20% in the past 24 hours, now trading above $3.45 with a market capitalization of $8.14 billion. This surge comes after French authorities returned the passport of Telegram founder Pavel Durov.

This development allows Durov to travel freely once again, putting an end to a situation that had raised concerns among privacy and free speech advocates. Durov, a co-founder of Telegram, a messaging platform with close to a billion users, has always been a vocal supporter of privacy and secure communication.

The TON Foundation, which backs the Telegram Open Network (TON), took to social media to celebrate this moment. They stated, “As part of the decentralized TON community, we have stood in solidarity with Pavel, supporting his unwavering dedication to defending the right to free speech and privacy online.”

Additionally, TON has seen positive effects from the new features introduced to the Wallet app on Telegram. These features include multiple assets, a yield program, an updated user interface, and more.
